Daily note
Rank evidence without blocking the worker
One-time keyword ranks now feed Scout’s content preparation, with resumable waits for provider results.
- Background jobs
Scout now collects a baseline ranking for each saved keyword and reuses it during content preparation. The saved position, date and ranking URL give the planner evidence about an existing page before it decides what content is needed. This is one-time collection; recurring tracking and movement reports remain future work.
Preparation submits a lookup and saves the provider’s task ID. While results are pending, it releases the worker and queues itself to resume after 60 seconds. Each resumption checks the same task, avoiding duplicate purchases and a separate scheduler dependency. Deliberate waits do not consume failure retries. A configurable 45-minute deadline allows preparation to continue with a warning if rank evidence remains unavailable.
The change was deployed after 217 tests and build checks; 202 baselines had been saved at verification. A separate 30-item queue test used synthetic providers to check resumption without duplicate lookups. The later article-page rank display remained local: it shows a position only when the saved ranking URL matches the article, keeping another page’s result out of the report.
